This UCSP class module discusses globalization as a phenomenon characterized by the crossing of geographic boundaries and the intensive connection among cultures and societies. Globalization is brought about by multiple factors, and it shapes development in different parts of the world. This module also provides an explanation of the process of migration of Filipinos as one of the elements that triggers globalization and introduces changes into Filipino culture and society.
Objective
Objectives ● Determine the definition, history, and outcomes of globalization; ● Recognize various ways by which globalization is understood nowadays; ● Define what ‘migration’ means in the context of the Philippine society; ● Identify the different waves of migration; and ●Examine how the phenomenon of migration affects Filipino culture.
