At a minimum, Module 17 of the UCSP class discusses citizenship and pertains to citizens, who, at a minimum, are individuals with legal rights in a state. In democracies, citizens have the right to participate in meaningful elections and other political activities.
In the module, there are specific ways that citizens participate in the life of society: through activism and volunteerism.
Objective
● Identify the essential elements of democracy and citizenship; ● Define volunteerism and activism; ● Explain how the youth can become responsible citizens; and ● Discuss examples of how volunteerism and activism are beneficial to the community and to nation building.
