Use a vending machine to squirt 'slushies' into ice-cream cones. The machine serves coloured slush randomly from four slots. Work out which colour is the most common (most likely to be served). Notice that the least common colours are sometimes served. Make several guesses, then check your results from the random sample. This learning object is one in a series of three objects.
Objective
1. Students use yes, no or maybe to describe probability situations.
2. Students explore the tension between theoretical probability and randomness.
