Investigate the advantages and disadvantages of growing genetically modified crops on a farm. Compare the characteristics of genetically modified and non-genetically modified canola. Explore possible effects on public health, biodiversity and the economy. Recommend whether or not to grow genetically modified canola. This learning object is one in a series of two objects.
Objective
1. Students identify opportunities and threats of growing genetically modified food crops for Australian society, economy and the environment.
2. Students summarize arguments for and against the growing of genetically modified crops in Australia.
