Description
Investigate how a musical instrument makes a range of notes. Relate the sound made by a bongo drum to skin size and tension. Answer questions about the drum skin and its relationship to the sound produced. For example, if a drum skin is tightened, will it vibrate faster and produce a higher pitch? This learning object is one in a series of four objects. Three objects in the series are also packaged as a combined learning object.
Objective

Students explore how sounds are made by vibrating objects.
Students identify variables affecting the pitch of sounds made by a percussion instrument.
Students adjust variables to produce a musical note of a given pitch.
