Description
This instructional material was developed in response to the requisite for the contextualization of the K- 12 curriculum for indigenous communities as mandated by DepEd Order No. 62, s. 2011 entitled Adopting the National Indigenous Peoples Education (IPED) Policy Framework and DepEd order No. 43, s. 2013 entitled Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act No. 10533 otherwise known as the Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013. Such issuances not only recognize the right of indigenous people to basic education that is culturally rooted and responsive but also stress the need to respect and recognize Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Practices (IKSPs) in school and learning programs. The developer recognizing her role as an educator, the importance of such practices and knowing that almost all of these are passed on orally and gradually fading while others totally vanished due to modernization and advancement of technology documented the IKSPs in Agricultural Cycle and Human Life Stages of Kadaclan. Accordingly, as this material introduces the IKSPs of that place, she also hopes that it would give more confidence to her co-teachers and other teachers serving in indigenous communities to interface such in their lessons.
