Description
Explore the use of scale on a number line. Select a ruler displaying a helpful scale such as ones, tens or hundreds. Look at a pair of numbers such as 900 and 1200 marked on a number line. Identify the number corresponding to another point. Or locate another point on the number line to complete a series of three numbers. Apply a marked scale to help estimate the relative distances. This learning object is a combination of three objects in a series of seven objects.
Objective
1. Students locate numbers on a given scale.
2. Students use a scale to measure discrete quantities.
3. Students locate numbers accurately on a continuous scale.
4. Students identify how variations in unit size relate proportionally to the number of units that will fit into a given space.
