Captain the Metrix spacecraft on its mission to a new planet. Use the metric measurement tables for length, area and volume, plus your knowledge of decimal numbers, to help you make decisions about the spacecraft's launch, flight and landing. (For example, convert 350 cm2 to m2 to select a solar panel to replace the one damaged in flight.) Reach the planet before the other two spacecraft to claim the most resource-rich landmass. This learning object is the fifth in a series of six learning objects.
Objective
Students apply knowledge of relationships in metric measurement by converting between units of length, volume and capacity, and area.
Students interpret terminology for length, volume and capacity, and area measurement, to solve problems.
