Captain the Metrix spacecraft on a mission to save Earth from an asteroid collision. Use the metric measurement tables for mass, length and volume to help you make unit conversions. Some of these will involve rates, such as speed and frequency. (For example, to ensure a successful launch, select the rate of concentration of fuel additive that is equivalent to 5 litres per kilolitre.) Beat two other spacecraft to the asteroid to save Earth. This learning object is the third in a series of six learning objects.
Objective
Students apply knowledge of relationships in metric measurement by converting between units of mass, length and capacity.
Students interpret terminology for mass, length and capacity to solve problems involving other units and rates.
