Use a wind generator to create power for a lighthouse. Set the blade length and angle of the blade to the wind to suit wind speed for one year. Try to maximise energy efficiency of the wind generator so that enough electricity is created to power the lighthouse, while at the same time minimising the use of diesel fuel. Test wind conditions in a range of locations in Australia and New Zealand
Objective
Students maximise power output and energy efficiency of a windmill at a range of wind speeds.
Students explore some factors in the design of wind-powered generators.
