Start a business: location and type

Start up a retail business such as a sports, electronics or clothes shop. Investigate the spending habits of local people, the location of competitors and shop sites available for rent. Choose the business type and location most likely to succeed. This learning object is one in a series of three objects.
1. Students explore how retail profitability is related to customer demand and unit costs.
2. Students analyse sales results and adjust production volumes and prices accordingly.
3. Students test business ideas and respond to market feedback.
