Control the motion of the Earth in its orbit around the Sun. Investigate how orbit and rotation affect seasons and night and day. Examine the heating effect of the Sun. For example, explore why it is colder at the poles than at the equator. This learning object is part of a series of four objects.

Students describe the Earth's rotation on a tilted axis and its revolution around the Sun.
Students describe why the Sun's heating effect is weakest at the poles.
