Description: This storybook is a product of the Division Competition on Storybook Writing from 2017-2019 of the Department of Education – Zamboanga del Sur Division. It’s a story about a chicken named Sarimanok who reigned in the kingdom of Datagan and his bravery in protecting the eggs from the destruction of the daring Dong Ahas. Written with a Midsalip-Subanen translation, this aims to teach learners the virtue of taking the lead and standing up for the safety of the majority.

Objective: This material aims to allow the learners to talk about one’s environment, like animals and events. Further, this also intends to help children show concern for community members differently. This story also aims to let the learners demonstrate as examples of peace.
