This is a Lesson Guide in Elementary Mathematics. It contains lessons that focus on rational numbers dealing on fractions.It helps develop learner's skill in writing fractions, changing fractions to decimals and vice-versa, reducing fractions to lowest term, changing mixed number to improper fractions, estimating and ordering fractions and solving problems involving fractions.
To develop in students the ability to:
1. Name the fraction or mixed number described by a shaded region, set, or point on the number line.
2. Rename fractions as decimals and vice versa.
3. Solve for the missing term in a pair of equivalent fractions.
4. Reduce fractions to lowest term.
5. Change mixed numbers to improper fractions and vice versa.
6. Estimate fractions close to 0, ½, or 1.
7. Find the least common denominator (LCD)of a set of fractions.
8. Order fractions in simple and mixed forms in ascending or descending order using different methods.
9. Solve mentally word problems involving fractions
