This lesson is intended for Grade 10 students. It focuses on the process of how proteins are made by playing the local game named libut-libutay in which the students can analyze the similarities/ analogy of the said local game and the actual bonding of amino acids in making proteins in the body using the information from DNA. This lesson also shows the use of DNA model made of kawayan, rattan and banig to unfold the information stored in DNA are being used to make proteins. It also shows the influence of one’s characteristics by reflecting on the following waray proverbs:
a. “An kagang bisan paghatukan makagangkagang la gihapon”
b. “An manga diri namumunga hin santol”
Objective
1.Demonstrate the process in protein synthesis by playing the local game “libut-libutay”.
2.Explain how proteins are made using information from DNA with the use of DNA model made of kawayan, banig or buri, rapa or rattan.
3.Realize that the genes in the DNA influence one’s characteristics by reflecting on the following waray proverbs:
a. “An kagang bisan paghatukan makagangkagang la
gihapon”
b. “An manga dire namumunga hin santol”
